You may have heard, there's a virus going around. And since our ministry is based around the premise of bringing people together and promoting community, social distancing has posed a bit of a challenge to our model. In order to do our part to protect our community and volunteers alike, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel all teams through December 2020. (See previous blog post for details.)
Unfortunately, the same needs exist in the colonias that existed before coronavirus. Part of our solution to overcome this challenge as a ministry and continue meeting the needs of families awaiting a house is to raise funds for our local staff to complete the builds. This also allows for continued employment of our staff. You may have seen that some groups have generously chosen to donate funds for an entire house, but we understand that's not an option for everyone.

Three months ago, we were set to host 40+ mission teams to build 50+ homes in 2020. We had medical teams on the books, plans for our annual VBS and women's retreat, and we were looking forward to hosting bigger teams and multiple teams at once in our newly constructed cabanas.
Then coronavirus happened. |
